The latest games to come out on the XBOX 360 are excellent and competing against real opponents on XBOX Live is just an amazing experience – don’t knock it until you have tried it. During a recent online game, a ‘youngster’ (age less than 20) was mocking the old timers (30+) for playing games. As it turned out 6 out of the 8 players in that game were between 30 and 40.
It got me thinking to why so many 30 something’s are playing ‘games’ on XBOX Live. The reason is because we were the first to experience the early computer games in the 1970′s. I remember the first Atari console that plugged into the TV that had three games (Tennis, Squash and Football), a better description would have been 3 variations of ‘bat and ball’. At the time it was amazing:
Then in the 80′s I had a Dragon32 which had ‘next generation’ games and the ability to write your own ‘Hello World’ applications – could it get better than this. One of my favourite games at the time was Chuckie Egg:
And now a big jump to 2007 (I did have a Sega Megadrive and the original Playstation in that time) we come to the XBOX 360 with PGR4:
You ‘youngsters’ don’t know how lucky you are!
